How to switch your internet plan and save

With home internet, many people overpay, often for the exact same line. What matters more than the brand is which connection type you have and what is even available at your address.

The connection type matters more than the brand

Availability depends on your address

The same plan is not available everywhere, and fibre isn't at every address. That's why it's worth checking with your postcode, so you only see offers that actually work where you live. The final check happens on the provider's site in the last step.

Many brands, the same line

As with mobile, many providers resell the same underlying line. A cheaper name often means the same connection at a lower price.

Be careful with 4G as your only connection

4G home internet sounds cheap, but it often has a data cap and a variable speed. As the main connection for a household with streaming and home office it can fall short. As a backup, or where there's no fixed line, it's useful.

How to switch

Check the minimum contract term of your current plan. Many providers handle the switch for you. As always, watch for promo prices that rise after a while.

billfox uses your postcode to show the cheapest matching offers, with the connection type clearly labelled, so you don't mistake 4G for fibre.
